Valley floor town
The settlement sits on flat valley ground, so its streets form a tight, compact shape that stands out clearly against the open land around it.

Quankou Map Poster & Print
Quankou lies in north-eastern Qinghai, on the high ground where the Tibetan Plateau meets the ranges and valleys that lead toward Gansu. At this altitude the landscape is broad and open, with cultivated fields and grassland stretching between mountain slopes. From above, the settlement is a compact cluster of streets and buildings on the valley floor, with roads running out across the fields.
The name means roughly spring mouth, a reference to water coming out of the ground and a common origin for place names across China. On a Quankou map poster, the small, dense town against the vast, lightly marked terrain around it gives the design a spacious, almost minimalist character.
North-eastern Qinghai is home to Han, Hui, Tibetan and other communities, and small towns like Quankou serve the farming and herding life around them. The map records the town as it is: its street pattern, the roads to neighbouring places and the watercourses that cross the high valley on their way down from the surrounding mountains.

Field patterns
Cultivated plots and field roads spread across the high valley and leave a faint, repeating texture around the town on the poster.
Mountain edges
Where the valley rises into mountains, roads thin out or stop entirely, and the map fades to open white space that suggests the scale of the plateau.
