Château canals
Long, straight canals and islands in the park form a formal water geometry. On paper they read like a carefully drafted landscape plan.

Rambouillet Map Poster & Print
Rambouillet lies south-west of Paris in the Yvelines, on the edge of the Forêt de Rambouillet, one of the largest forests in the Île-de-France. On a map the town is small and compact, while the château's park extends beside it, a large formal landscape of straight canals, long avenues and islands laid out in precise geometry.
The château was a royal and later presidential residence, and its grounds contain two well-known features: the Queen's Dairy, built for Marie Antoinette, and the Bergerie nationale, where merino sheep have been raised since the reign of Louis XVI. Beyond the park, the forest surrounds the town with a dense, uninterrupted mass of woodland.
A Rambouillet map poster brings out that unusual balance: a modest grid of streets on one side, and on the other an expanse of water channels and avenues drawn with a ruler. Framed by the forest, the composition looks as considered as a garden plan.

Forest avenues
Straight rides cut through the surrounding forest in long lines, a legacy of royal hunting. They give the edge of the print a radiating structure.
Compact town centre
The town itself is a small, tidy grid near the château. It sits against the much larger scale of park and forest.
