Ratodero is a town in Larkana District in the north of Sindh, on the broad alluvial plain shaped by the Indus. The land is almost perfectly flat, so nothing on the map is dictated by hills. Instead, irrigation canals and the roads that run beside them set the lines, and the town forms a dense knot where several routes meet.
Around the centre, lanes are close-packed and irregular, typical of an old market town. Farther out the pattern opens into fields divided by watercourses, and each channel draws a thin, deliberate line across the page. Ratodero is also where the M-8 motorway toward Gwadar begins, which links this stretch of Sindh to the Balochistan coast.
