Reẕvānshahr lies on the Caspian coast in Gilan Province, in the Talesh area of northern Iran. On a map the town sits in a narrow strip of lowland. The sea shore is on one side, and on the other the ground rises quickly into the forested Talysh mountains.
The lowland is heavily farmed, and rice paddies form the main texture between the settlements. Rivers and streams run down from the mountains to the Caspian across this coastal plain, and the main coastal road runs parallel to the shore, linking the town with its neighbours.
