Slate-clad old centre
The historic core forms a dense, irregular cluster of short streets and small plots, a contrast with the planned grids found elsewhere in the Ruhr region.

Schwelm Map Poster & Print
Schwelm lies at the eastern edge of Wuppertal, on the border between the Bergisches Land and the Ruhr, and serves as the administrative seat of the Ennepe-Ruhr district. It is one of the older towns in the area, and its centre still keeps a cluster of houses clad in dark slate and trimmed in white, the traditional Bergisch style.
The topography gives the map its character. Streets run along a valley and then climb the surrounding slopes in curves and switchbacks, so the pattern changes from a tight, irregular knot in the centre to looser residential lanes and wooded patches at the edges. Railway and main roads keep to the lower ground, linking the town westward to Wuppertal.
Schwelm is also known regionally for its Heimatfest, a large town festival held each September with parades and neighbourhood groups. A Schwelm map poster shows the settlement as it sits within the hills, with the built-up edge of Wuppertal pressing close on one side and green country opening on the others. It is a small town, but a legible one.

Streets on the slopes
Roads bend and double back as they climb the hills around the valley, giving the residential districts a curving, contour-following pattern that reads well in monochrome.
Edge of Wuppertal
To the west, Schwelm's streets run almost seamlessly into Wuppertal, so the map captures the point where a small town meets a much larger city.

ለምን Schwelm
ትርጉም ያለው ካርታ
Schwelm is the kind of town people carry with them after they leave: school, the Heimatfest, a house on a hillside street. A map of it keeps that place in view, and its mix of old centre and hilly outskirts makes a balanced, readable print.
You can change the title and subtitle, perhaps to a family name or a year, and edit the coordinates line. Five styles are available, including Noir and Paper. Buy the digital files once for $9, or have a matte poster printed and shipped.
