Railroad grid
Sedalia's streets form a near-perfect grid, and rail lines cross it at angles. This mix of order and interruption gives the poster its character and recalls the town's railroad origins.

Sedalia Map Poster & Print
Sedalia is the seat of Pettis County in west-central Missouri. It grew as a railroad town in the nineteenth century, and the map still reflects that. A regular grid of numbered and named streets fills the centre, tracks cut diagonally across it, and the blocks thin out into farmland on every side. Downtown keeps a compact pattern of brick commercial streets close to the rail line.
Sedalia is home to the Missouri State Fair, and its fairgrounds form a large, distinctive shape on the south-west side of town. The city also has a place in music history, because Scott Joplin lived and worked here in the 1890s, and his Maple Leaf Rag took its name from a Sedalia club.
A Sedalia map poster brings those layers together: the orderly grid, the rail corridors, the Katy Trail following the old Missouri–Kansas–Texas line, and the open fairgrounds. It is a classic Midwestern town plan, clear and well balanced, and it looks good on a wall at any size.

State Fairgrounds
The Missouri State Fair grounds take up a large block of land on the edge of town, where internal roads and open space make a distinctive shape within the surrounding grid.
Katy Trail corridor
The Katy Trail, a long rail-trail on the former Missouri–Kansas–Texas railroad, passes through Sedalia. Its gentle curve is easy to follow among the straight streets.

Some hang this map because they grew up in Sedalia, others because they cycled the Katy Trail, spent summers at the State Fair or love ragtime. Whatever the reason, the grid makes a clean, confident wall piece.
