River corridor
The town stretches out along its river valley. The waterway and the road beside it form the backbone that the rest of the street pattern hangs from.

Shibao Map Poster & Print
Shibao lies in the south-east of Gansu province, in hilly country where rivers have cut valleys through thick layers of loess. On a map the town follows its valley. The main streets run along the flat ground beside the water, and smaller lanes branch off toward the slopes. Outside the town, roads bend to follow the terrain, heading for the next village or the next valley.
This part of Gansu is a landscape of terraced hillsides and narrow valleys, where people have long settled on the flat ground that the rivers left behind. Even without shading or contour lines, the map shows that pattern. Streets gather where the ground is level, and the space thins out where it rises.
A Shibao map poster turns that logic into a clean drawing: a band of streets along the valley, a few roads winding out, and quiet white space for the hills. It is modest and exact, and it suits anyone who knows the town or has roots in this part of north-western China.

Side lanes
Short lanes run off the main streets toward the foot of the hills. They give the map a comb-like rhythm along the length of the valley.
Loess hill country
Around the town, the road lines become sparse and curving. This is the loess upland, where routes have to follow ridges and terraces rather than a straight line.
