Shuanghe is in western Chongqing, in the rolling country near Rongchang, where low hills and small valleys cover the land. On a map the town is a compact settlement whose streets follow the terrain. Roads bend around rises, and lanes climb short slopes, so there are few long straight lines.
This part of Chongqing is farmland, with terraced plots, reservoirs and scattered hamlets between the towns. Around Shuanghe, rural roads spread out in all directions, linking villages and farmsteads. The town itself is the local centre where those roads come together.
