Shushary lies on the southern edge of St. Petersburg, in the Pushkinsky district, between the city's high-rise suburbs and the countryside toward Pushkin. On a map it is a place in transition: new residential areas with large blocks of flats, extensive warehouse and industrial zones, and fields that are gradually being built over.
The land here is flat, and the map is structured by major roads, including the ring road around St. Petersburg, and by railway lines with their sidings.
