Staffanstorp lies in western Skåne, on the fertile, almost perfectly flat plain between Lund and Malmö. The landscape is open and agricultural, and from above the town appears as a neat island of streets surrounded by large, rectangular fields. Roads toward the two larger cities cross the farmland in long, direct lines.
The town grew substantially in the second half of the twentieth century as a residential community for people working in the nearby cities. That history shows in the map. There are loops and cul-de-sacs of planned housing areas, clusters of terraced and detached houses, and a small commercial centre where the main roads meet.
