Sudley is a residential community in Prince William County, Virginia, just north of the city of Manassas. From above, it is a classic Northern Virginia suburb. Looping streets, courts and cul-de-sacs branch off a few main roads, and the neighbourhoods are separated by strips of trees and small streams.
The layout tells you when it was built. Instead of a grid, the streets follow the terrain in soft curves, and each subdivision has its own small network of lanes and dead ends. Shopping centres and schools sit along the main roads, their large parking lots showing up as broad blank areas.
