Low watershed
The Hikami area holds a remarkably low continental divide, where water on one side heads to the Sea of Japan and on the other to the Inland Sea.

Tanba Map Poster & Print
Tanba is less a single town than a chain of valleys. Formed in 2004 from six former towns, it covers a wide stretch of hill country in the interior of Hyōgo, and on a map its roads follow the valley floors while the ridges between them stay blank and green. Small centres such as Kaibara and Hikami appear as clusters along those corridors.
One of the city's curiosities is a watershed. Near Hikami the divide between rivers draining to the Sea of Japan and those flowing to the Seto Inland Sea drops to roughly 95 metres, often cited as the lowest in Japan. The region is also known for its large black soybeans and its chestnuts, grown in the fields that fill the valley bottoms.
A Tanba map poster captures this branching pattern: fine lines of roads and rail running between hills, rivers splitting in two directions and villages strung like beads. It suits anyone who knows the area as a home, a route through the countryside or a place of family farms.

Valley corridors
Roads and railway follow the flat valley floors, so the map shows long branching lines with empty forested hills filling the spaces in between.
Merged town centres
Several former town centres remain visible as separate clusters of streets, giving the city a multi-centred shape rather than one dense core.

ለምን Tanba
ትርጉም ያለው ካርታ
For people who grew up in the Tanba valleys or return there for harvest seasons, a print of the city captures the quiet spread of countryside rather than a single skyline. It works well in a home office, a hallway or a kitchen.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a village name or a family date, and pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand and Paper suit the rural subject especially well.
