Straight khlongs
Long canals run across the district in straight lines, forming a grid of water that predates most of the roads and still sets the direction of many streets.

Thawi Watthana Map Poster & Print
Thawi Watthana is a district on the far western side of Bangkok, on the Thonburi side of the Chao Phraya. Its map is shaped by canals: long straight khlongs dug for irrigation and transport cut across the land, with smaller waterways between them. Housing estates, temples and remaining plots of agriculture fill the rectangles in between, and wide highways run along the edges.
The area kept a semi-rural character longer than most of the capital, with fruit orchards, vegetable plots and houses built facing the water. It borders Nakhon Pathom province, and Phutthamonthon, a large Buddhist park with a monumental Buddha statue, lies just beyond the district line. Borommaratchachonnani Road, one of the main routes west from Bangkok, passes nearby.
A Thawi Watthana map poster is less about buildings than about water drawn with a ruler. The parallel canals create a rhythm that is rare in a capital city, and the newer streets that branch off them show how Bangkok has grown outward into its old farmland over the past decades.

Orchard plots
Between the canals, narrow plots and small waterways show where orchards and gardens were laid out, a finer pattern that survives among newer housing.
Western highways
Major roads leading west towards Nakhon Pathom cut through the canal grid with broad, sweeping lines, the clearest sign of the city pushing outward.
