Thiadiaye is a town in the Mbour department of Thiès Region in western Senegal, inland from the Petite Côte beaches. From above, the town is a spread of sandy streets, many laid out in rough blocks, around a main road that carries traffic through the region. Compounds and courtyards give the residential areas a fine, cellular texture.
The countryside is flat and open, part of Senegal's groundnut basin, where millet and groundnuts have long been the main crops. Tracks run from the town to the many villages around it, and the landscape is dotted with baobabs and fields that turn green in the rainy season.
