Thomazeau Map Poster & Print
Thomazeau lies in the Ouest department of Haiti, on the eastern part of the Cul-de-Sac plain. The land here is low and open, framed by mountain ranges to the north and south. Not far to the east is Étang Saumâtre, also known as Lake Azuéi, the country's largest lake, which stretches towards the Dominican border.
The town's layout is modest and practical. A handful of central streets form the core, and roads lead out across the plain towards farmland, neighbouring communities and Port-au-Prince to the west. The flat terrain allows fairly straight lines, while the surrounding fields and dry scrub keep the settlement compact.
A Thomazeau map poster shows the town in its larger landscape, a plain between mountains near a great saline lake. Printed in black and white, the concentrated centre and the long roads over open ground make a spare, balanced composition. It is a meaningful piece for anyone with family roots in this part of Haiti.

Compact centre
The town's core is small and clearly defined, a tight cluster of streets from which a few main roads lead out towards neighbouring places.

ለምን Thomazeau
ትርጉም ያለው ካርታ
For the Haitian diaspora, a map of a home town can say more than a photograph. Thomazeau shown with its plain and the lake beyond is a quiet, specific tribute to the place a family comes from.
