Tielt Map Poster & Print
Tielt is a market town in the province of West Flanders, between Bruges and Ghent. Like many Flemish towns it grew around a central market square, and its street plan still shows it. Main roads arrive from the surrounding villages and meet at the Markt, where the old cloth hall tower stands. From above the historic core is small and dense, surrounded by later residential districts.
Around the town the landscape is typical of inland West Flanders: level farmland divided into small irregular fields, scattered farmsteads and a dense network of narrow country roads. On a map this creates a fine, intricate texture around the centre. There is no major river or coastline here, so the shape of Tielt comes entirely from its roads and the pull of the market square.
The belfry of Tielt is one of the belfries of Belgium and France listed together as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a reminder of the town's history in the cloth trade. A Tielt map poster keeps the focus on the radial pattern of roads, which makes the centre easy to find even without a label.

Radial roads
Roads from neighbouring villages run into the centre from several directions, giving the map a star-like structure around the compact core.
Field patchwork
Small fields, farmsteads and narrow lanes surround the town, creating the dense, fine-grained pattern typical of the Flemish countryside.
