Tirumeshi lies on the western edge of the Chennai metropolitan area in Tamil Nadu, where the city gradually gives way to farmland and water tanks. On a map, this edge is easy to see. Older village lanes cluster around a traditional centre, while newer residential layouts spread out in straighter, more regular plots.
The land here is flat, and the area around Chennai is dotted with irrigation tanks, the shallow reservoirs that have supported farming in Tamil Nadu for centuries. They appear on the map as irregular open shapes between neighbourhoods. Main roads connect the area eastward to the city.
