Tolú Viejo lies in Sucre in northern Colombia, inland from the coast of the Gulf of Morrosquillo. From above it is a compact town. A few main streets meet around a central square, and a looser network of residential blocks extends outward before giving way to farmland and wooded hills.
As its name suggests, it has a long link to the coastal town of Tolú, and roads connect it to the shore and to Sincelejo, the departmental capital. The surrounding landscape is hilly and green, with cattle pasture, farms and patches of forest, so the edges of the map are soft and irregular.
