Tōon is a city in Ehime Prefecture on the island of Shikoku, lying east of Matsuyama along the valley of the Shigenobu River. On a map, it combines low, flat land used for rice and farming with forested hills rising toward the mountains of central Shikoku.
Residential streets form small, dense grids around stations and older village centres, separated by patches of farmland. A railway and main roads follow the valley, linking Tōon to Matsuyama. The Shigenobu River and its tributaries draw long, soft lines across the plain.
