Upper Saint Clair is a township in Pittsburgh's South Hills, in Allegheny County. The terrain shapes the map. Streets follow ridges and valley floors rather than a grid, and they bend around slopes and stream valleys. The result is a dense web of curves broken by green space.
Main roads such as Route 19 on the township's edge and the long arterial routes through it cross the pattern. Branching off them are loops and cul-de-sacs typical of post-war suburban development in hilly country. School campuses and playing fields appear as open, flat shapes within the curves.
