Vaihingen an der Enz is in Baden-Württemberg, north-west of Stuttgart, in the Ludwigsburg district. As the name says, the Enz river defines it. On a map the river loops through the valley, and the old town sits compactly beside it, with narrow lanes gathered below the hillside.
