Valley-floor town
The built-up area occupies the level ground of a valley, a typical arrangement in the loess highlands, where flat land is scarce and settlements follow the watercourses.

Weidian Map Poster & Print
Weidian is a town in Gansu province in north-western China, in the loess highlands of the upper Wei River basin. This is a landscape of soft, wind-deposited soil, carved by water into ridges, gullies and terraced slopes. Towns here tend to sit on the flatter valley floors, and Weidian follows that pattern.
From above, the built-up area is compact, with a main road and a handful of connecting streets that fill the available level ground. Around it, the land is divided into farm plots that follow the contours of the hills. The contrast between the town's straight lines and the curving terraces is a defining feature of the region.
A Weidian map poster focuses on the town and its immediate setting. The street network is modest, which gives the composition a lot of breathing room: a dense centre, a few long roads, and wide open space that stands in for the hills. The result is a restrained print with an unmistakably rural character.

Main through road
A principal road runs through town and links it with neighbouring settlements. Most streets branch from this line, giving the map a clear central spine.
Loess hill country
The surrounding terrain of ridges and gullies has little street network, so it appears on the poster as open space framing the compact town.
