Valley core
The town's densest streets line the valley floor. They form a long, narrow settlement that follows the natural drainage of the land.

Wenjiang Map Poster & Print
This Wenjiang lies in southern Sichuan, in the hilly country south of the city of Yibin. It is not the Wenjiang district of Chengdu. On a map the town is shaped by its terrain. The built-up area follows a valley floor, and the streets run alongside a watercourse and fork where side valleys open. Terraced fields and wooded slopes surround it closely.
Little of the landscape here is flat, and that shows in the street pattern. Instead of a grid, roads trace the contours, climbing in switchbacks where they leave the valley and linking scattered villages across the ridges. The region belongs to the wider Yangtze basin, and the valleys drain north towards the great river.
A Wenjiang map poster reads almost like a relief study. A dense core of streets sits along the valley, and thin winding roads spread outward into the hills. It is a quiet, organic composition, far from the orderly blocks of a plains city, and it looks particularly good in the softer Paper or Sand styles.

Contour roads
Roads leaving the town wind along hillsides and over ridges. Their loops and switchbacks give the outer map a fine, hand-drawn quality.
Terraced surroundings
Farmland and woodland fill the slopes around the town, leaving open space that lets the street pattern stand out on the page.
