Wudil lies in Kano State in northern Nigeria, south-east of the city of Kano, beside the Kano River. On the map, the river forms a clear line near the town, and farmland spreads over the surrounding savanna plain, divided into fields and crossed by tracks.
The town centre is a dense cluster of lanes and compounds, typical of northern Nigerian towns, with larger roads cutting through it. The main road connecting Kano with towns further east passes through Wudil, and the river crossing is an important link in that route.
