Xoxocotla is a Nahua community in the south of Morelos, in the warm lowlands that stretch below Cuernavaca. For a long time it was part of the municipality of Puente de Ixtla. In recent years it became a separate indigenous municipality, and the town is known for its strong community organisation and the Nahuatl traditions many residents keep.
On the map the town is a dense, fairly regular grid of blocks gathered around its centre. It thins out quickly into cultivated land, with sugar cane and other crops filling the flat surroundings.
