Yŏnggwang-ŭp Map Poster & Print
Yŏnggwang-ŭp is the seat of Yŏnggwang County in South Hamgyong Province, in North Korea's northeast. The town sits inland among hills and ridges, where valleys open into small plains. From above, the built area is compact and set along the lower ground, with roads following the valley floor out toward neighbouring settlements.
Little detailed information about the town is widely published. Its map shows the typical elements of a county centre in the region: a central area of administrative buildings and housing, farmland on the flatter ground, and wooded slopes rising close on several sides. The terrain decides where the town can grow.
A Yŏnggwang-ŭp map poster gives this restrained layout a clean graphic form. The street network is small and centred, and the valleys and ridges around it leave generous white space. Mountain towns of this kind make quiet compositions, where the land matters as much as the streets.
