Yunlong is a town in the northeastern part of Chongqing municipality, in the hilly country typical of the eastern Sichuan Basin. Here, long parallel ridges and the valleys between them shape where roads and settlement can go. From above, the streets gather along the valley floor and follow the lie of the land instead of forming a straight grid.
The surrounding countryside is heavily farmed, with terraced fields and small villages spread across the slopes. Roads wind between them, linking the town to the wider district and to Chongqing's regional network. The landscape brings a strong sense of contour even to a small town.
