Židenice is a district of Brno, the second-largest city in the Czech Republic, lying east of the historic centre. On a map it is a dense urban quarter crossed by railway lines and main roads. The Svitava River runs along its western side, and the ground rises eastward towards greener, hillier land.
The district combines older apartment blocks, industrial sites near the railway and residential streets on the slopes. It has long been a working part of the city, well connected by tram to the centre of Brno.
