Beloi landing
On the east coast, Beloi is where many boats from Dili arrive. Its small cluster of houses and paths sits on a strip of flat land between the hills and the sea.

Atauro Map Poster & Print
Atauro lies across the strait from Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste, close enough to be seen from the city on a clear day. It is a mountainous island that rises steeply from the sea, with only a thin band of flatter land along parts of the coast. Villages such as Beloi and Vila sit on this edge, linked mostly by tracks and paths rather than a dense road network.
The waters around Atauro are known for their reef life. A 2016 survey by Conservation International recorded some of the highest average reef fish diversity measured anywhere in the world, and community-managed marine areas help protect it. During the Portuguese colonial period, the island was used as a place of exile and imprisonment.
An Atauro map poster shows the island at a scale where relief shapes everything. The interior is almost free of lines, the coast carries the few settlements and paths, and the surrounding reef and open strait give the composition generous space. The result is a simple, strong outline with a great deal of quiet around it.

Mountain interior
The centre of the island rises steeply to its highest peaks. This largely roadless interior reads as open space on the map, with the detail pushed out to the edges.
Fringing reef
A band of coral reef wraps much of the coastline, marking the shallow edge of the island before the seabed drops away into the deep strait toward Timor.

Məna daşıyan xəritə
Many visitors to Timor-Leste go to Atauro to slow down, snorkel off the beach or stay in a village guesthouse. A map poster is a restrained way to remember those days, and for people from the island it is a portrait of home that leaves out nothing essential.
The title and subtitle can say anything, from the island's name to the date of a crossing, and the coordinates line can be adjusted. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Printed posters come on matte paper, with an optional wooden frame, from print partners in more than 30 countries.
