Lake Catemaco
The lake fills much of the map with a large, irregular shape, its shoreline curving past coves and headlands that give the poster a striking outline.

Catemaco Map Poster & Print
Catemaco sits on the western shore of Lake Catemaco, in the volcanic Los Tuxtlas region of southern Veracruz. The town faces the water, and from above its streets slope toward a lakefront promenade. The lake itself dominates any map of the area, a broad sheet of water ringed by green hills and dotted with small islands.
The town is widely associated with curanderos and brujos, practitioners of traditional healing and folk magic, and an annual gathering held each March draws visitors from across Mexico. On the lake, boat trips pass islands including one known for its colony of monkeys. The surrounding landscape of cones, forest and water is among the most distinctive in the Gulf coast region.
A Catemaco map poster frames the town against the wide curve of its lake. The street pattern on the shore, the open water and the islands offshore create a composition with plenty of space and a strong outline. In black and white it has a calm, almost nautical feel.

Islands offshore
Several small islands sit in the lake near town, appearing as neat shapes on the open water and adding detail to the empty space.
Lakefront promenade
The town meets the water along a shoreline walk, where streets from the centre run down to the edge of the lake in a gentle slope.
