The inner sea
The eastern coast faces a sheltered sea dotted with islands, many of them inhabited. Its tangle of channels and peninsulas creates the most intricate part of the poster.

Chiloé Island Map Poster & Print
Chiloé Island lies off southern Chile, separated from the mainland by the narrow Chacao Channel. It is one of the largest islands in South America, long and roughly rectangular. Its two coasts could hardly be more different. The west faces the Pacific with a straight, exposed shoreline. The east breaks into fjords, inlets and a scatter of smaller islands in a calm inner sea.
Chiloé is known for its wooden churches, built in a distinctive local style. Sixteen of them are listed together as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In Castro, the island's main town, stilt houses called palafitos line the water's edge. Much of the western highlands falls within Chiloé National Park, and there are few roads there.
A Chiloé Island map poster follows the main highway down the island, from Ancud in the north through Castro to Quellón in the south. The eastern side is full of detail, with peninsulas, fjords and island communities. The Pacific side stays quiet and open, and that lopsided balance gives the design its character.

Castro's waterfront
The island's main town sits at the head of a long, sheltered fjord on the east coast. Its streets rise from the water, where palafitos line the shore.
The Pacific coast
On the west, the island meets the ocean with a long, fairly unbroken shoreline backed by forested hills. Few roads reach it, which leaves a clean edge to the map.

Məna daşıyan xəritə
Chiloé has a strong identity of its own, and people who were born there or travelled between its churches often want to keep that feeling close. The long, lopsided outline is unmistakable on a wall.
Add your own title and subtitle, perhaps a town name or a date, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download the HD files for $9 or order a printed poster with a wooden frame.
