Dukinfield Map Poster & Print
Dukinfield lies in Tameside, on the south bank of the River Tame, facing Ashton-under-Lyne across the water. Historically part of Cheshire, it grew fast during the cotton era, and the map still carries that industrial grain: rows of terraced streets, old mill sites and rail lines, with the Peak Forest Canal running south from its junction by the Tame.
At that junction the Peak Forest Canal meets the Ashton Canal, and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal joins the network close by in Ashton, which made this one of the busiest meeting points of the old canal system. On paper, these waterways appear as thin, deliberate lines beside the natural curve of the Tame, a small diagram of how the region was built.

The Peak Forest Canal begins at a junction with the Ashton Canal by the Tame. Its straight, engineered course then runs south through the town.
Terraced streets
Blocks of Victorian terraces form tight parallel rows. This texture fills much of the map and recalls the town's cotton-mill past.
