Ostravice River
The river runs through the city and divides it into its two historic parts. On the poster it forms the central axis, a clear dividing line crossed by several bridges.

Frýdek-Místek Map Poster & Print
Frýdek-Místek is two towns joined into one. Místek lies on the west bank of the Ostravice River and Frýdek on the east bank. The river once marked the border between Moravia and Silesia, and the two towns developed separately until they were merged in the twentieth century. On a map, the river runs through the middle, and bridges tie the two halves together.
Frýdek sits higher, with its castle overlooking the river. Místek has its own historic square, with arcaded houses. To the south, the land rises toward the Beskydy mountains, and the valley narrows as the river heads up into the hills. To the north, the city leads toward the industrial area around Ostrava.
A Frýdek-Místek map poster shows the double structure clearly. Two older centres face each other across the water, housing estates and newer districts spread out around them, and the river connects everything. It is a map that tells the town's story through its layout, even without any words.

Frýdek castle hill
On the eastern bank, Frýdek's old centre climbs to the castle overlooking the valley. On the map the streets there bend and rise, unlike the flatter areas across the river.
Místek square
On the western bank, the older streets of Místek meet at its historic square. It is the second centre of the city and gives the map a balanced, two-part structure.
