The Amper crossing
The river bends through the middle of town, and the historic bridge at its narrowest point is the anchor from which the old streets spread out.

Fürstenfeldbruck Map Poster & Print
Fürstenfeldbruck grew up where an old salt road crossed the Amper, and the bridge that gave the town the second half of its name still explains its shape. On a map the river runs through in a gentle curve, the older streets cluster close to the crossing, and newer residential districts fan outward across the flat land west of Munich.
South of the centre lies the former Cistercian monastery of Fürstenfeld, whose large baroque church and rectangular courtyards appear as a compact, orderly block beside the river. The town is also known for its air base, which in 1972 was the scene of the tragic end of the hostage crisis during the Munich Olympics, an event that remains part of its public memory.
A Fürstenfeldbruck map poster balances these elements: the soft line of the Amper with its green margins, the geometric abbey grounds, the railway linking the town to Munich's S-Bahn and the tidy suburban grids beyond. It is a quiet, legible composition, typical of the Upper Bavarian towns that ring the capital.

Fürstenfeld Abbey
The former monastery forms a large, symmetrical footprint of church, cloister wings and gardens, clearly distinct from the finer street pattern nearby.
Rail to Munich
The S-Bahn line cuts a steady diagonal through the town, a reminder of how closely Fürstenfeldbruck is tied to the metropolitan area to the east.
