The oldest part of town is a tight cluster of streets on the valley floor. This is where the network is densest and the blocks are smallest.

Guanhães Map Poster & Print
Guanhães lies in the eastern part of Minas Gerais, a region of rounded hills and small river valleys. The town has grown into the spaces the terrain allows, so its streets curve, climb and branch rather than following a single grid. The centre is compact, and newer neighbourhoods reach outward along the roads and ridges around it.
Like many towns in the Minas interior, Guanhães is surrounded by pasture, farmland and patches of forest, crossed by country roads to neighbouring municipalities. A Guanhães map poster shows this setting at a readable scale: the dense core, the looser outer districts, and the streams and roads that shape the town's outline.
In black and white, the hills come through in the streets themselves, which bend sharply, fork and dead-end where the ground steepens. It is a map with movement in it, very different from the flat grid of a city on a plain, and it gives the sheet an organic, almost hand-drawn feel.

Hillside streets
Around the centre, streets wind up the surrounding slopes in irregular loops and forks. Their curves trace the relief of the land across the sheet.
Streams and valleys
Small watercourses run through and around the town, thin natural lines that follow the valleys. They help show where the neighbourhoods had room to grow.
