The citadel
A near-square fortress enclosed by walls and a moat, with angled bastions at its edges and the Imperial City in the middle. On the map it reads as a precise geometric block laid beside the river.

Huế Map Poster & Print
Seen from above, Huế is organised around water. The Perfume River flows through the city from the hills to the southwest, separating the walled citadel on the north bank from the newer quarters to the south. The citadel is the dominant shape on the map: a near-square enclosure with angled bastions, a surrounding moat and an inner grid of lanes, with the Imperial City at its heart.
Huế was the capital of Vietnam under the Nguyễn dynasty from 1802 to 1945, and its complex of monuments was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1993. Many of those monuments lie beyond the walls. Royal tombs are scattered upstream along the river and into the wooded hills, and the tower of the Thiên Mụ Pagoda stands on the north bank west of the citadel.
A Huế map poster brings these elements together in black and white. The strict geometry of the citadel sits against the loose curves of the river, the bridges that stitch the two banks together and the finer streets that thin out into rice fields and the lagoons toward the sea. The result is quiet and balanced, with a clear centre and a soft edge.

Perfume River
The Sông Hương curves through Huế from the southwest, dividing the old citadel from the southern districts. Its broad, unhurried line gives the whole composition its main direction.
Trường Tiền Bridge
Built at the turn of the twentieth century, this steel span is the best known of the bridges linking the two halves of central Huế, a short straight stroke across the river.

Niyə Huế
Məna daşıyan xəritə
Huế is a map for people who have walked the citadel lanes, taken a boat upstream to the tombs or have family roots in central Vietnam. It holds both the formality of an old imperial capital and the softness of its river landscape, which makes it easy to live with on a wall.
Add a title and a date to mark a journey, a wedding or a return home, and adjust the subtitle and coordinates line to suit. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper and Sand suit the city's calm, riverside character particularly well.
