Kanke reservoir
The dam's reservoir forms the largest open shape on the map. Its uneven shoreline traces the natural folds of the plateau and gives the composition a strong, organic centre.

Kānke Map Poster & Print
Kānke sits just north of Ranchi on the Chota Nagpur plateau, and on a map it reads as a place between city and countryside. Roads leave the state capital, fan out through the settlement and thin into village lanes, while open fields and scattered tree cover fill the gaps between built-up clusters. The terrain rolls gently, so the street pattern follows ridges and low ground rather than a strict grid.
The strongest shape in the area is the Kanke Dam reservoir. Its irregular shoreline draws the eye in any rendering of the district. Around it, large campuses stand out as calm blocks of internal paths and open ground. Kānke is widely known as the home of the Central Institute of Psychiatry and of Birsa Agricultural University, and both occupy substantial grounds on the edge of the town.
A Kānke map poster works best at a scale that includes both the reservoir and the approach roads from Ranchi, so the link between the town and the capital stays clear. In black and white, water becomes a clean void, the campuses become quiet rectangles, and the closer lanes of the older settlement add texture. The result is a map that feels spacious rather than crowded.

Campus grounds
The Central Institute of Psychiatry and Birsa Agricultural University occupy wide grounds. Their internal roads and open fields appear as orderly, lightly drawn blocks among the denser settlement.
Roads to Ranchi
Routes running south towards the state capital connect Kānke to the city. They show clearly how the town grew along the lines that tie it to Ranchi.
