Straight coastline
The South China Sea shore runs almost straight along the town's eastern side. It gives the poster a clean edge and a wide expanse of open water.

Kertih Map Poster & Print
Kertih lies on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, in the state of Terengganu, facing the South China Sea. The coast is long and nearly straight, a line of sand against open water. On a map, the town spreads along this shore, with its residential streets in the flat land behind the beach and a coastal highway running parallel to the sea.
The town is best known as a centre of Malaysia's oil and gas industry. Petrochemical plants and industrial facilities, linked to Petronas and offshore fields in the South China Sea, cover large areas near the coast. These appear on the map as broad, regular blocks and service roads, very different in texture from the smaller streets of the housing areas.
A Kertih map poster shows two sides of the town: planned industrial land with its large geometric plots, and neighbourhoods of houses and shops set behind the shoreline. The straight edge of the sea ties them together. It is a strong subject for anyone who has worked in the energy sector here or grew up on this coast.

Industrial zone
Large petrochemical sites form broad, regular shapes near the coast. On the map they contrast sharply with the fine street grid of the town.
Coastal highway
A main road follows the shore, connecting Kertih with the other towns of Terengganu. It forms the spine along which the settlement stretches.
