Seamless edge with Lille
Streets flow across the municipal boundary without a pause, so the map shows Loos as part of one continuous urban fabric rather than a separate town.

Loos Map Poster & Print
Loos is one of the communes that make up the continuous urban fabric of the Lille metropolitan area, bordering the city directly to the south-west. On a map there is no clear break between the two: streets simply carry on across the boundary, and Loos reads as a tightly woven section of the larger conurbation, cut through by railway lines and main roads.
Much of the town is made of long rows of narrow brick houses typical of French Flanders, laid out along streets that alternate between gentle curves and straight stretches. Part of the large hospital and health campus that serves Lille extends into Loos, and a former Cistercian abbey here was long used as a prison, a well-known chapter in the town's past.
A Loos map poster works as a close-up portrait of northern French suburban life: the rhythm of terraced streets, the wide footprints of institutional sites, the straight lines of rail cutting between neighbourhoods. Printed in black and white, the density of the fabric becomes almost textile-like, a pattern that holds its interest from across the room.

Hospital campus
Large hospital and research buildings form a cluster of broad, open shapes on the map, clearly different from the narrow residential plots that surround them.
Rail corridors
Railway lines cut across the town in long, confident strokes, dividing neighbourhoods from one another and adding strong straight lines to the composition.
