Marchienne-au-Pont Map Poster & Print
Marchienne-au-Pont sits on the western side of Charleroi, where the Sambre bends through a landscape shaped by two centuries of coal and steel. The name recalls the bridge that gave the settlement its crossing, and on a map the river is still the spine. Streets gather on both banks, rail lines run beside the water, and the large footprints of industrial sites break the finer residential blocks into irregular pieces.
Since the municipal mergers of 1977 it has been part of Charleroi, yet it keeps a recognisable centre of its own. Terraced streets climb gently away from the river, and the long rectangles of works and yards along the valley floor contrast with the narrow plots of worker housing. The history of Wallonian industry is written directly into the geometry of the ground here.
In monochrome, that contrast becomes the whole point. A Marchienne-au-Pont map poster shows the Sambre as a clear white ribbon, the dense lanes of the old town in fine black line and the broad industrial parcels as calm open spaces. The result is less a postcard than an honest drawing of a working valley, which is what many people from the region want to keep.

Industrial footprints
Large rectangular parcels of works and yards interrupt the street pattern, leaving broad calm areas that contrast sharply with the fine grain of the residential blocks.
Terraced worker streets
Rows of narrow, closely spaced streets rise away from the river, the typical housing pattern of a Walloon industrial town built around its employers.

Məna daşıyan xəritə
People hang this map because Marchienne is rarely pictured, yet it is deeply familiar to anyone who grew up there or worked in its mills. A precise street plan says more about the place than a skyline could, and it sits well in a kitchen, hallway or office.
You can set your own title, add a subtitle such as a family name or year, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, download the HD files for $9, or order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
