Montgeron Map Poster & Print
Montgeron lies in Essonne, southeast of Paris, on the slopes above the Yerres valley. On a map the town has two clear borders. The winding river and its green banks lie to one side, and the large dark mass of the Sénart forest lies to the other. Between them, residential streets fill the space with a mix of avenues, cul-de-sacs and older lanes.
An old main road crosses the town on its way out of Paris, and the rest of the street pattern hangs off it. In 1903 the first Tour de France began outside the Réveil-Matin café on that road in Montgeron, a fact the town still remembers. The long straight line of the route stands out among the softer residential curves.
In the 1870s Claude Monet stayed and painted at the Château de Rottembourg in Montgeron as a guest of the Hoschedé family. A Montgeron map poster shows the setting of that period in plan: large estate parcels, a slow river, and the forest edge close by. It is a suburb with more open ground on its map than you might expect.

The river bends along the lower side of Montgeron, bordered by meadows and gardens. It gives the map a soft, meandering line that frames the town.
