The Miño
The river crosses the city diagonally, dividing it into two slopes and giving the poster a broad, sweeping line that organises every other element.

Ourense Map Poster & Print
Ourense lies in the interior of Galicia, in a deep valley where the Miño cuts through hilly country. On a map the river runs diagonally across the city, and the streets rise on both sides in irregular terraces. The old town forms a tight cluster of lanes around the cathedral above the water, while newer districts spread across the slopes and follow the river in both directions.
Ourense is famous for its hot springs. Water emerges at As Burgas in the centre of the city, and thermal pools line the banks of the Miño. The Ponte Vella, a medieval bridge built on Roman foundations, crosses the river near the Ponte do Milenio, whose looping walkway rises above the water. Together they show how the city has always organised itself around its crossings.
An Ourense map poster brings out the relationship between river, slopes and bridges. The Miño appears as a strong band, the bridges as fine lines across it, and the older streets as dense texture near the centre. It is a map for anyone who has walked between the old town and the springs, or crossed the river on a winter evening.

Historic bridges
The Ponte Vella and the modern Ponte do Milenio span the Miño close together, forming a recognisable pair of crossings near the heart of the city.
Old town lanes
Around the cathedral, narrow and irregular streets form a compact historic core that stands out against the broader avenues of the newer districts.
