Mittelland Canal
The canal passes north of the town in a long, even line. It is one of the most legible features on the map and a reminder of how goods have moved across this plain.

Peine Map Poster & Print
Peine sits on the flat North German plain between Hanover and Braunschweig. From above it reads as a tight core of older streets, ringed by later housing, industrial land and open fields. The small river Fuhse runs through the town. To the north, the Mittelland Canal cuts a straight, deliberate line across the landscape, a clear horizontal stroke on any print.
Steel has shaped the town for well over a century. The works on its edge show up as broad blocks of rail sidings and long halls, a coarser texture beside the finer street pattern of the centre. Railway lines between Hanover and Braunschweig pass through as well, adding another set of firm lines that give the composition its structure.
A Peine map poster works well in black and white because the town is a study in contrasts: the irregular lanes of the centre, the orderly residential streets, the heavy industrial grid and the ruler-straight canal. Nothing is decorative. The drawing depends entirely on how these layers meet, and that is exactly what a minimalist print shows well.

River Fuhse
The Fuhse winds through Peine in soft curves, a quiet counterpoint to the straight lines of canal and railway that surround the town on several sides.
Steelworks district
The industrial area forms a dense, rectilinear patch of halls, yards and sidings, visibly different in scale and texture from the residential streets that sit beside it.
