Highland basin
The town fills a raised bowl in the Manggarai mountains, so the street network curves with the contours rather than running in straight lines toward a shore.

Ruteng Map Poster & Print
Ruteng sits high in the western mountains of Flores, the administrative centre of the Manggarai Regency. From above, the town spreads across a gently tilted basin rather than along a coast, which is unusual for an island town in East Nusa Tenggara. Its streets bend around the slopes instead of following a strict grid, and green hills press in close on every side.
A Ruteng map poster shows a compact centre with roads running out into the surrounding farmland. Beyond the built-up area the lines thin out quickly, and the paddies and forested ridges show as open space. The altitude gives Ruteng a cool, often misty climate that feels far from the island's hot, dry coastline, and the wet uplands are why the region is known for its rice terraces.
Near the town is Liang Bua, the limestone cave where the remains of Homo floresiensis, the small hominin often called the hobbit, were found in 2003. The Manggarai area is also known for its round lingko fields, divided like a spider's web from a central point. Even as plain black lines on paper, the landscape around Ruteng reads as a place shaped by mountains.

Farmland edges
Built-up blocks give way abruptly to open ground, where rice fields and wooded slopes leave wide blank areas around the dense centre on the printed map.
Roads through the hills
A few main routes leave town and wind across the ridges of western Flores, tying Ruteng to the rest of the island through the mountain terrain.

Niyə Ruteng
Məna daşıyan xəritə
Ruteng tends to go on the walls of people who know Flores beyond its beaches: travellers who crossed the island by road, researchers who worked near Liang Bua, or families with roots in Manggarai. The poster keeps the cool upland town in simple ink.
You can add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example a travel date or a family name, and pick from Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to match the room it will hang in.
