Sandy River confluence
The Sandy River winds past the town and joins the Columbia. The meeting of the two rivers is the clearest natural feature on the poster and frames the eastern edge.

Troutdale Map Poster & Print
Troutdale sits at the eastern edge of the Portland metropolitan area, where the Sandy River flows into the Columbia. On a map, water defines the town. The Sandy curves along its eastern side, the wide Columbia runs along the north, and the town's streets climb from the river flats up onto higher ground to the south, with the interstate slicing along the valley floor.
Troutdale is known as the western starting point of the Historic Columbia River Highway, the early-twentieth-century scenic road into the Gorge. Its small downtown sits near the Sandy River crossing, and suburban neighbourhoods of curving streets spread across the terraces above. An airfield and industrial land fill part of the flat ground near the Columbia.
A Troutdale map poster combines two rivers, a historic highway and a growing town at the edge of wild country. The meeting of the Sandy and the Columbia gives the composition a strong focal point. It suits residents, hikers who start their Gorge trips here, and anyone who loves the landscape of the Pacific Northwest.

Historic highway start
The Historic Columbia River Highway begins here and heads east into the Gorge. On the map it leaves town as a winding road, unlike the straight interstate.
Columbia riverfront
The broad Columbia forms the northern border, with flat land along its bank. Its wide band of water gives the composition weight and a strong horizontal line.
