S-Bahn axis
The railway runs straight through the town and divides it into eastern and western halves. The stations mark the busiest points, and most of the local streets lead toward them.

Unterhaching Map Poster & Print
Unterhaching lies directly south of Munich, where the city's southern districts give way to a string of large suburban municipalities. The land here is the flat gravel plain of the Munich region, so the map is shaped almost entirely by roads and rail. The S-Bahn line runs north to south through the town, and the motorways around Munich's southern edge pass nearby.
The Hachinger Bach, a small stream, runs north through the town and gives the area its name. Many people outside Bavaria know Unterhaching through its football club, SpVgg Unterhaching, which briefly played in the Bundesliga around 2000. The municipality is also known for its early investment in deep geothermal energy, which supplies heat to homes across the town.
An Unterhaching map poster shows a calm, regular pattern: residential streets on either side of the railway, a small centre around the station and old village core, and open fields and forest at the southern edge. It is a portrait of suburban Munich, quieter and more ordered than the city centre, yet clearly linked to it.

Hachinger Bach
The small stream that gave the Hachinger valley its name runs through the municipality. On the map it is a thin, slightly winding line through the streets.
Edge of the forest
To the south and east, the housing gives way to fields and the large woods south of Munich. The edge is sharp and clear, especially in the Classic and Noir styles.
