Castle at the summit
The Norman-Swabian castle sits at the highest point of the old town, and the surrounding streets arrange themselves around it like contour lines around a peak.

Vibo Valentia Map Poster & Print
Vibo Valentia occupies a high terrace in Calabria, overlooking the Tyrrhenian coast and the Gulf of Sant'Eufemia. The historic centre gathers around the summit, where the Norman-Swabian castle stands, and streets descend from it in bending lines across the slope. The coast itself lies a few kilometres away, reached by roads that wind down to Vibo Marina and its port.
That separation between hill town and seaside harbour is what makes the map distinctive. The upper city shows a dense, irregular old core with newer blocks spreading along the high ground, while the lower part of the frame opens toward the shoreline. A Vibo Valentia map poster can be framed to hold both, or to focus closely on the historic centre and its castle.
The site has been settled for a very long time. It was the Greek colony of Hipponion before becoming the Roman Vibo Valentia, and stretches of the ancient Greek walls survive on the edge of town. Today it is the capital of its province and a natural starting point for trips along the Costa degli Dei, the coastline that curves away to the south.

Vibo Marina
Down on the coast, the harbour district has its own small grid and port basin, linked to the upper town by winding roads that trace the long descent.
Terrace edge
The town's position on a raised plateau shows in how development stops at steep ground, leaving open slopes between the ridge and the sea below.

Məna daşıyan xəritə
Many people from Vibo Valentia now live far from Calabria, and a map of the hill, the castle and the coast is a compact way to keep hold of it. It also suits travellers who spent time on the Costa degli Dei and remember the view from above.
