Workington Map Poster & Print
Workington stands at the mouth of the River Derwent on the west coast of Cumbria, facing the Solway Firth and the Irish Sea. On the map, the river curves in from the east and ends in harbour basins and piers. The town spreads uphill on both banks in rows of terraced streets.
For more than a century the town was known for iron and steel, and Workington rails were laid on railways around the world. Much of the former industrial land near the coast is now open ground, leaving wide, lighter areas between the harbour and the town centre. The ruins of Workington Hall, where Mary, Queen of Scots spent a night in 1568 after fleeing Scotland, stand on the edge of the town.
A Workington map poster shows a place shaped by water and work: a straight coastline, a river mouth, dock outlines and the tight streets built for the families who worked there. Every Easter the town plays Uppies and Downies, a mass ball game played across the town that local people treat as their own.

Harbour and piers
Dock basins and piers at the river mouth make clear geometric shapes against the open Solway coast, marking the town's long history as a port.
Terraced streets
Rows of closely built terraces climb away from the river and centre, creating a fine, repetitive texture typical of northern English industrial towns.

Niyə Workington
Məna daşıyan xəritə
Workington means a great deal to families with steelworks or harbour roots, to rugby and football supporters, and to people who have played in the Easter ball game. The coast and river make it a map with real character.
Add your own title and subtitle, such as a family name, a street or a year, and edit the coordinates line. Then pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir suits the industrial past, and Blueprint suits the harbour.
