Senja Map Poster
Senja lies off the coast of Troms in northern Norway and is the country's second-largest island outside Svalbard. Seen from above, it has two characters. The side facing the open sea is torn into fjords and peninsulas, with steep peaks rising straight from the water. The side facing the mainland is gentler, with farmland, forest and a long sheltered sound.
Fishing villages such as Husøy, Mefjordvær and Gryllefjord hold onto the outer coast, often on narrow shelves of land at the mouths of fjords. A National Tourist Route follows part of this coast, linking viewpoints below mountains such as Segla. On the inland side, the Gisund Bridge connects the island to the town of Finnsnes on the mainland.

Gisund Bridge
A single bridge across the Gisundet strait ties Senja to Finnsnes. On the map it appears as a short, clean line across calm water on the island's eastern side.
Ånderdalen National Park
In the south of the island, this protected area of pine and birch forest, lakes and mountains fills the interior with open space, a quieter counterpoint to the busy coastline.
