Albania sits in the south of La Guajira, on low, dry ground between the Serranía del Perijá and the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. From above, the town is a small, tight block of streets surrounded by open scrubland. The lines on the map thin out quickly into tracks, fence lines and seasonal streambeds.
